Roland KAROSI
Short bio
Longer bio
Roland KAROSI was born in Királyhelmec, a Hungarian town in what is now southern Slovakia, and was already singing in the street as a small child. The neighbours simply called him the singing boy. He never went to music school: he learned singing and guitar largely by himself and later worked with vocal teachers. Improvisation has been part of his musical thinking ever since.
In his twenties he sang and played guitar in several bands. In Debrecen they played Santana covers, and later, with VAN, he performed at festivals in Hungary and abroad. That’s when he started writing his own songs.
After he moved to Budapest, music took a back seat for a while, but it never went away. In 2018 he joined the alternative choir Soharóza, where he was an active member until 2025, and he has worked with them on individual projects since. With the choir he has shared the stage with artists including Veronika Harcsa, Péter Novák, Gábor Presser, Sena, Mariann Falusi, the Jónás Vera Experiment and many other great musicians and artists.
At one of these productions he met producer Ábel Mihalik, and together they started finishing in the studio the songs he had gathered over the years. In 2026 his first album was completed: ten songs in English, now awaiting release. Hungarian-language material is also in the works.
Roland KAROSI’s songs move between pop-rock, blues, folk and jazz. At their centre are the words and the mood: personal stories, told honestly. He writes in both Hungarian and English; for him, the two languages are two voices of the same world. He plans to play live with a band once the albums are out.
